This international triathlon event solidifies its position as one of the competitions with the highest prize money, distributing an equal €25,000 between the male and female categories. This year's edition, commemorating a decade of existence, not only attracts the world's elite to Anfi del Mar, in Mogán (Gran Canaria), but also grants a valuable qualification for the The Championship world triathlon event by Challenge Family, considered one of the most important sporting events globally.
The competition will kick off on Saturday, April 18, from Anfi del Mar beach, with the participation of approximately 500 triathletes from 27 countries and three continents. The starting line will feature over 60 professionals, ensuring an exceptional competitive level. This edition has exceeded all expectations, selling out its spots in record time and establishing itself as the best in the event's history.
In addition to the significant financial reward for the winners, the event distributes invitations to participate in The Championship, which will take place in May in Samorin, Slovakia. These invitations are reserved for the top six finishers in all categories, including age groups in the middle distance. The Challenge Family world championship is an exclusive race that brings together the best triathletes from the circuit and the most prominent professionals worldwide.
The allure of the Anfi Challenge Mogán Gran Canaria makes it one of the most anticipated events of the year, marking the start of the European season and serving as a barometer for global triathlon. Triathletes from all over the planet are already in Anfi del Mar, acclimatizing for the race on Saturday, April 18. Throughout this week, the bay, avenue, and roads of the area have been transformed into training grounds for the global elite. The event is counting down, deploying all its infrastructure to welcome the athletes.
Pre-event activities include an online technical briefing on Thursday, April 16, for age groups, where competition details will be provided with the presence of judges from the Canarian Triathlon Federation and the Challenge Gran Canaria team. On Friday, the pace quickens with the professional briefing and the opening of bib collection from 12:00 PM. That night, the iconic image of hundreds of bicycles waiting in the T1 of Anfi del Mar will once again demonstrate the elite's preference for Gran Canaria as a triathlon destination.
The main competition will begin at 8:00 AM on Saturday, featuring short distance, middle distance, and relay modalities. In the afternoon, from 4:00 PM, it will be the turn of the youth with the Acuatlón Challenge, which is part of the Canarian Championship and already has over 150 participants. The day will culminate with a large international sports festival and trophy ceremony, celebrating the anniversary of this event, which is supported by the Mogán City Council, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria through Turismo de Gran Canaria and the Insular Sports Institute, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Anfi Group, Anfi Sports Academy, the Canarian Triathlon Federation, and other collaborating entities.
