The Directorate General of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands has concluded the pre-alert for a marine pollution episode affecting the Port of La Luz and Las Palmas, in the municipality of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The termination took effect from 11:00 AM today, Saturday, July 25, 2026.
This measure was taken within the context of the Territorial Emergency Plan for Civil Protection of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands (PLATECA). The decision is based on information provided by Maritime Captaincy to CECOES 112, confirming the deactivation of the Internal Maritime Plan once cleanup operations were completed.
Additionally, the deactivation of the National Maritime Plan at 09:30 AM, which had been in an alert phase, has been reported. With these actions, the marine pollution episode is considered closed, and the pre-alert situation of the PLATECA is being terminated.
