The social headquarters of UD Las Coloradas, a historic football club in Gran Canaria, has undergone significant renovation thanks to a grant of just over 16,500 euros from the Gran Canaria Council. The project, coordinated by the Ministry of the Presidency and Sustainable Mobility, has updated key areas such as the facade, roof, water installations, and kitchen bar, substantially improving the property's appearance, comfort, and functionality.
This building not only serves the sports entity but also hosts the Iguamira Association and the Association of Friends of Las Coloradas 'El Confite', reinforcing its role as a neighborhood meeting point.
The president of the Gran Canaria Council, Antonio Morales, emphasized the importance of grassroots sports for "social cohesion" and praised the "extraordinary" work of those who drive UD Las Coloradas, highlighting their commitment to inclusion and the "common good of the community." The club, which works with over a hundred children from the Benjamín to Regional categories, operates with male and mixed teams.
For his part, the Sports Counselor, Aridany Romero, underscored the contribution of sports organizations to the island's society and acknowledged the "sensitivity" of the Presidency Department in supporting clubs like UD Las Coloradas, located in the La Isleta neighborhood of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
“"We are a neighborhood team, proud to be so. A family."
Club representatives, including its president Juan Manuel Morales, secretary Arecida Jiménez, vice-president Faustino Rivero Berriel, and sports coordinator Marcos Antonio Cabrera, expressed their gratitude for the support received, which has enabled the refurbishment of a headquarters they consider a true home for the neighborhood and its families.
