The Canarian team, competing in Liga U, a tournament promoted by the FEB and the CSD for the development of young talents, defeated the Valencian team with a score of 87-91. This triumph grants them a ticket to compete for the title in the final phase to be held in Burgos.
The match, played at La Fonteta, started with CB Gran Canaria showing some hesitation, allowing Valencia Basket to take an early lead. However, the visiting team gradually adjusted its play, especially in defense and ball movement, managing to turn the situation around and go into halftime with a slight advantage of 43-46.
In the second half, the Gran Canarian team displayed its best performance, with notable contributions from several players who helped maintain the lead. Despite some setbacks, such as injuries to two players, the team managed to stay calm in decisive moments. Defensive solidity in the final minutes was key to sealing the victory.
With this qualification, CB Gran Canaria concludes a successful season in Liga U, having exceeded initial expectations. Now, the next challenge will be to face Casademont Zaragoza in the quarterfinals of the 'Final Six', with the aim of winning the first title in the history of this competition.
