This initiative, promoted by the Department of Health, aims to facilitate access to peritoneal dialysis and home hemodialysis treatments over a four-year period, from 2026 to 2030. The contract will be awarded through an open procedure to serve both local patients and displaced individuals requiring care for chronic kidney disease.
Health authorities emphasize that this home-based care model significantly improves patient survival and well-being. By bringing treatment closer to the home environment, hospital travel is reduced, and health parameters are better managed.
Additionally, the Executive has approved a budget extension of 6.1 million euros to maintain hemodialysis services in clinical units linked to the hospital management. This measure ensures the continuity of essential care for patients requiring periodic renal replacement therapy until the end of 2027.
