Last Friday, the Main Festivities of San Isidro Labrador in Gáldar were inaugurated with a speech by the mayor. The proclamation was filled with personal memories and deep gratitude, recalling characteristic aspects of the neighborhood's identity.
The inaugural event took place at the Church of San Isidro, where the Santa Cecilia Musical Group began the day's proceedings. The celebration concluded in the Plaza de San Isidro with a performance by the Pieles Company. The mayor expressed his thanks to the El Labrador Neighborhood Association and its president for the honor of being the town crier, declaring his love for the neighborhood and its people, and remembering those who have shaped its identity.

The proclamation officially marked the start of the festivities, which include prominent events such as the Santa Gema proclamation on Thursday, May 7, the Romería-Ofrenda on Saturday, May 9, the 'papagüevos' parade on May 14, and the traditional Cattle Fair on Friday, May 15, San Isidro's Day, followed by the procession and flower battle.
Throughout his address, the town crier shared his personal experiences linked to the neighborhood, dwelling on childhood memories, the people who have influenced his personal history, and the emblematic places of San Isidro. He also referred to local commerce, the importance of football as a unifying element, music as a cultural expression, and the improvements and advancements that have benefited the neighborhood in recent years.
