Gran Canaria Activa Boosts Health with Over 28,000 Uses in Second Year
The program by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria has consolidated its position as a benchmark in promoting physical activity, benefiting 360 participants.

The Gran Canaria Activa program, promoted by the Insular Sports Institute of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, held its first meeting with 360 participants, solidifying its social impact with over 28,000 uses in its main service.
The initiative, developed in collaboration with the Official College of Graduates in Physical Education of the Canary Islands, reviewed the achievements of its second year, highlighting significant growth and consolidation in promoting health through physical activity.
The program's Advisory and Physical Activity Service has registered 28,262 uses and extends across all 21 municipalities on the island. A significant finding is that over half of the participants (57.7%) access the service with a pre-existing health condition, underscoring the role of exercise as a complementary tool for improving well-being and health prevention.

The user profile reveals the program's importance among the adult and elderly population, with 69.9% of participants aged between 61 and 80 years. Furthermore, 45.75% had a sedentary or inactive lifestyle before joining the initiative, highlighting the program's success in fostering healthy habits.
