“"The neglect of six of the seven islands in international projection and investment attraction policies, and the arbitrariness in the selection and appointment processes for positions of responsibility in foreign promotion entities that the rest of the Archipelago is suffering."

The Cabildo de Gran Canaria has expressed its dissatisfaction with the creation of a new general directorate within Proexca, whose headquarters are located solely in Tenerife, which, according to the corporation, exacerbates territorial inequality.
During last Friday's plenary session, the Cabildo de Gran Canaria voiced its opposition to the Government of the Canary Islands' decision to establish the headquarters of Proexca's new General Directorate of Organic Coordination and Strategic Projects in Tenerife. This measure, according to the island corporation, strengthens Tenerife's "political, executive, and now also technical hegemony" within the entity, with the "approval" of the regional executive.
According to a statement issued by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, this new office will have staff responsible for managing strategic initiatives for the archipelago and advising investors on Tenerife. The corporation believes that this "exclusivity exacerbates the violation" of the principle of cohesion and territorial balance among the islands.
The creation of this general directorate and the subsequent call for applications for its seven job positions generated "explicit rejection" from representatives of the Economic Promotion Society of Gran Canaria (SPEGC) and the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria within the public company's governing bodies.
In response, the plenary session of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria has urged the regional Government to rectify the "imbalance" in Proexca's management and to "guarantee equal opportunities for all islands." The motion, promoted by Nueva Canarias-Frente Amplio Canarista and the Partido Socialista Canario-PSOE, was rejected by the Partido Popular, Coalición Canaria, and Vox.
