The Cabildo de Gran Canaria has voiced concerns over the excessive concentration of Proexca's executive and strategic positions in Tenerife, advocating for a more equitable distribution across the archipelago.

The island institution of Gran Canaria has expressed its unease regarding the political and executive centralization of Proexca, the public company of the Government of the Canary Islands responsible for the archipelago's external projection, international business expansion, and foreign investment attraction. This concern was raised during the presentation of a motion to be debated in the Cabildo's plenary session.
According to the complaint, all of Proexca's executive positions, including its president, vice-president, and CEO, as well as the general director of Organic Coordination and Strategic Projects, are located in Tenerife. This situation, it is argued, disregards the need for territorial balance and the economic reality of the different islands.

"The concentration limits the efficiency and accessibility of projects requiring in-person attention and projects a negative image abroad by centralizing strategic decisions in Tenerife."

The motion, promoted by NC-FAC and PSOE, also highlights that the Office of Strategic Projects, established in June 2025 and attached to the aforementioned general directorate, launched a selection process for seven job positions, all located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This occurred despite objections from the SPEGC and the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria.
Among the specific demands, the motion urges the Government of the Canary Islands and Proexca to relocate or create new positions for the Office of Strategic Projects on other islands, particularly in Gran Canaria, to ensure agile and balanced service. It also calls for an archipelagic approach to external promotion and institutional representation, guaranteeing an equitable distribution of leadership roles.
If the motion is approved, the agreement will be forwarded to the relevant institutions, aiming to establish a more inclusive and equitable management model for the entire Canary archipelago.
