Las Canteras beach served as the venue for the regional finals of beach volleyball in the XLIII Canary Islands School Sports Championships. The competition brought together over twenty U-15 athletes, highlighting a high level of competition and a spirit of camaraderie and fair play.
Organized by the Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports, and the Vice-Ministry of Physical Activity and Sports, these championships aim to promote grassroots sports and the holistic development of young athletes.
The teams from Gran Canaria emerged victorious in both categories. In the women's division, Gran Canaria's second team defeated Tenerife's second team with scores of 15-12 and 15-10. Gran Canaria's first team secured third place after beating Tenerife's first team 17-15 and 15-7.
In the men's category, Gran Canaria claimed the title with a record of one win and one loss, placing them first in the final standings ahead of Tenerife's second team, who finished as runners-up. Tenerife's first team completed the podium.
“"The high level that young athletes show year after year in an unparalleled atmosphere of sporting celebration and camaraderie. For the Federation, it is a pride to be part of such positive projects for grassroots sports."
The beach volleyball finals mark the conclusion of another edition of this sport within the Canary Islands School Sports Championships, solidifying Las Canteras as a major venue for school sports in the Canary Islands and a showcase for future generations of beach volleyball players.
The championship calendar will continue in September with the finals for tennis and paddle tennis, which will bring together the best young talents in both disciplines in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife.
