Gran Canaria is joining the international initiative of solidarity with Gaza through two swimming events scheduled to take place on the island's coast in August.

The island will mobilize against the genocide in Gaza with two solidarity swim calls. The first will take place on Saturday, August 22nd, at 11:30 AM, at the Arinaga pier. The second event is scheduled for Saturday, August 29th, at 11:00 AM, on Las Canteras beach, specifically near Luis Morote street.
Citizens are invited to participate in the water in their preferred way: swimming, diving, or surfing. Additionally, participants with kayaks are expected, starting their journey from La Puntilla towards La Barra.
Organizers encourage attendees to bring distinctive elements such as flags, kufiya scarves, floats, umbrellas, or clothing in the colors of the Palestinian flag: red, black, white, and green. Under the slogan “Mójate por Gaza” (Get Wet for Gaza), the initiative aims to express solidarity with the population of Gaza and other oppressed peoples worldwide.
Complementing the aquatic activities, an information booth will be set up, and a solidarity market will be organized. All proceeds will be donated to Gazan families, so bringing cash for donations is recommended.
These two events are conceived as a space for citizen participation and international solidarity, under the unifying message: “Let us be one world, let us be one sea with Gaza”.
