The Gran Canaria Open 2026, the inaugural stop of the Cervezas Victoria Pickle Pro Tour, has concluded with resounding success, registering a 35% increase in registrations and solidifying the sport's boom in Spain.

The official national pickleball circuit of the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) has wrapped up its first event of the season in Gran Canaria, setting a new standard for growth. The tournament, supported by the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the Government of Canarias, and the collaboration of the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria City Council, attracted 192 registrations, a 35% increase from the previous year.
Participation also saw a notable rise, from 101 players in 2025 to 134 in 2026, representing a 33% growth. This increase was evenly distributed between amateur categories, with 98 participants, and professional categories, with 94, reflecting the sport's growing popularity.
The event translated into intense competitive activity, with a total of 485 matches played over the weekend. The central court was the epicenter of the action, hosting 6 matches on Saturday and all 5 finals on Sunday, offering a great spectacle to attendees.
The international dimension of the tournament was another highlight, with players from up to 11 different nationalities, underscoring the growing global interest in the Pickle Pro Tour. Sunday's finals crowned the champions in the Pro categories, with a male player winning the ABS Pro men's singles and a female player taking the Abs Pro women's singles title.
In men's doubles Abs Pro, one pair claimed the title after a highly contested match, while in women's doubles Abs Pro, a player, alongside her partner, confirmed her excellent performance. Finally, in mixed doubles Abs Pro, another pair was crowned champions in a final that once again highlighted the global nature of the event.

"The balance of this first tournament is very positive. We have seen clear growth in participation, a high competitive level, and an increasing international presence."
