The railway initiative, which recently received a favorable environmental impact declaration, anticipates a minimum of 2,055 parking spaces in its park-and-ride facilities. These will be distributed across seven of the eleven stations that will make up the line.
The locations of these parking areas, from north to south, include the stations of San Telmo (428 spaces), Jinámar (218), Telde (267), Carrizal (311), Arinaga (216), Vecindario (285), and Playa del Inglés (a minimum of 330). This infrastructure will allow travelers to combine the use of their private vehicles with guided transport.
Each of the eleven stations has been designed as a comprehensive transport interchange. All will feature taxi and bus stops, ensuring that users can conveniently travel to and from their final destinations. Additionally, various bus lines will depart from each station to connect with nearby neighborhoods.
A notable aspect of the project is that nearly 70% of the railway track will run underground. Only 30.65% of the route, equivalent to just over 17.77 kilometers of the total 58, will be on the surface, either open-air or in trenches. The train will travel through tunnels excavated with tunnel boring machines, mine tunnels, or artificial tunnels for most of its journey.
The surface section will include a total of 18 viaducts, strategically distributed along the route. In Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the route will be entirely underground from its start in Santa Catalina until it passes the Real de Telde ravine and goes through the San Telmo, Hospitales, and Jinámar stations. From there, underground and surface sections will alternate through the rest of Telde, Ingenio, Agüimes, Santa Lucía de Tirajana, and San Bartolomé de Tirajana, until reaching Meloneras.
The railway line has been configured with a double track between the San Telmo and Playa del Inglés stations, and a single track in the urban integration sections located at the ends of the route, specifically between Santa Catalina and San Telmo, and between Playa del Inglés and Meloneras.
