The Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium has received 774 applications for the 37 firefighter positions offered, representing an average of 21 candidates for each available post.

The call for applications, whose terms were published on December 22 last year, has generated considerable interest among candidates. These positions are part of the 2024 Public Employment Offer and aim to strengthen the civil servant staff.
Once the application period has concluded, the process will continue with the definitive publication of admitted applicants. Subsequently, the selection committee will be formed, and the date, time, and location for the first examination of the opposition will be determined.
The incorporation of these new personnel is crucial for enhancing the operational capacity of the service, which currently covers emergencies in 19 of the 21 municipalities on the island. This reinforcement will allow the Consortium to adapt its structure to current response needs.

"This reinforcement will contribute to optimizing emergency care and continuing to advance in the continuous improvement of the service, for the benefit of the safety of residents and visitors."

Operationally, the new additions will increase the staff by one member in each of the 35 teams serving in the entity's seven fire stations. This will significantly improve response capability to incidents and operational coverage across the island. The Consortium emphasizes that this selection process aligns with its commitment to providing the best possible service to citizens.
