The Governing Council has authorized an expenditure of 6,461,008.96 euros for the reform of the thermal production system at Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín University Hospital.

The Department of Health, through the Canary Islands Health Service (SCS), will allocate over 6.4 million euros to contract works for the reform of the thermal production system at the Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín University Hospital. This project, co-financed by the European Union under the Canarias FEDER 2021-2027 Programme, aims to equip the center with a more energy-efficient cooling generation system with a lower environmental impact.
Currently, the hospital uses eight air-water chillers which will be replaced by water-water chillers with heat dissipators. This change is expected not only to achieve greater energy performance and reduce operating costs but also to align with the hospital's commitment to sustainability. The management of the new installation will be centralized through an intelligent control system.
The contract for the renovation works will be awarded through an open tendering procedure with ordinary processing, and the execution period is set at twelve months.
