The Hospital Universitario de Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín, affiliated with the Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Health, has been awarded finalist status in the VIII edition of the BSH-Best Spanish Hospitals Awards. The recognition is in the category of Value-Based Healthcare Assessment, specifically for hernia procedures.
This award celebrates hospital excellence through indicators of efficiency, appropriateness, and quality of care, as well as patient experience evaluation. The initiative aims to promote clinical management and continuous improvement in hospitals nationwide.
This year's awards saw participation from 65 public and private hospitals across nine autonomous communities. Hospitals were assessed on their quality of care and efficiency, based on the study of up to 110 clinical pathways within eleven clinical areas. The Doctor Negrín Hospital was among the three selected candidates in its category.
The hospital's General Surgery department performs approximately four hundred hernia interventions annually. Surgeon Raúl Medina accepted the accreditation diploma at an event held in Madrid.
