Rocasa Gran Canaria has announced the signing of player Irene Botella for the next two seasons, making her the fourth addition to the squad for the 2026-2027 campaign.

The Telde-based club continues to strengthen its roster to defend the Liga Guerreras Iberdrola title. Irene Botella, a 23-year-old promising pivot with a strong upward trajectory, joins the club on a two-year contract.
Botella, originally from Elda, began her handball journey at age 8 with Elda Prestigio. Her leap to elite play occurred in the 2021/2022 season with Morvedre in the Liga Iberdrola. She subsequently played two seasons with Aula Valladolid, achieving a runner-up finish in the Copa de la Reina and participating in European competitions.
The 2024/2025 season saw her initially compete with Aula Valladolid before joining Zonzamas Plus Car Lanzarote in the Liga Oro in December. In Lanzarote, she was instrumental in winning the league championship and securing promotion to the Liga Iberdrola. In the recently concluded season, she helped the Lanzarote team maintain its position in the top flight after a highly successful PlayDown.

"The fact that a club like Rocasa noticed me means I'm doing things right. Reaching this point is a significant step, as we're talking about one of the most historic and prestigious Spanish clubs, always aiming to compete until the very end. This provides extra motivation to be part of this project. My goal is to continue growing as a player and as a person, contributing all my hard work and talent to help achieve our objectives."
