The third edition of the Canary Islands Sports Awards will be held on November 13th in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. These awards, promoted by the Canary Islands Government's Ministry of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports, will honor sports excellence in the archipelago during the 2025/2026 season.
A main jury, comprising 32 communication professionals specializing in sports information from all the islands, will decide the awards for conventional categories. This body will be chaired by Norberto González from Radio Nacional de España and will include journalists from various Canarian media outlets to ensure a pluralistic evaluation.
Additionally, a second jury, made up of the presidents of the eight regional federations for traditional Canarian sports and games, will determine the specific distinctions for indigenous sports. These include representatives from disciplines such as Cattle Dragging, Canarian Wrestling, and Latin Sailing.
The awards will recognize the careers and merits of individual athletes, teams, efforts in adapted and inclusive sports, gender equality, and the promotion of sports in the Canary Islands, along with a special honorary mention. For traditional sports, distinctions such as the Pedro Molina award and the Equality award will be presented.
