Marco Antonio Martín was crowned the 'scratch' champion of the fourth edition of the Open Dunas&Resorts. The golfer scored 38 strokes, with five birdies, three bogeys, and ten pars. The competition, the second qualifying event of the 28th Maspalomas Golf Cup Circuit, featured 112 players on the southern course.
In the handicap category, Alejandro Quevedo took first place in the Men's First Category with 39 points, followed by Marcos Rey. In the Second Category, Antonio Guerra secured victory with 39 points, ahead of Frank Brandt (37). Cristian Herrera, a footballer recently promoted to the First Division, won the Third Category with 45 points, surpassing José Manuel Martín (44). In the women's divisions, Magüi Serna won the First Category with 36 points, and Asunción Benítez took the Second Category with 31. Armando Juárez was the top-ranked senior player.
The winners have earned their spot in the grand final of the Maspalomas Golf Cup Circuit, scheduled for August 30. Special awards were given to Fernando González for the longest drive by gentlemen on hole 9, and to Conchi Monzón on hole 10 for the ladies. For the closest ball to the pin, Carmen Aymerich was the winner among ladies on hole 3, and Francisco Javier Rodríguez among gentlemen on hole 16.
The next event in the circuit will be on Saturday, June 20, with the 23rd edition of the Seaside Collection Hotels Tournament, benefiting the Ciudad de San Juan de Dios, played under individual stableford rules.
