The Cabildo of Gran Canaria is progressing with the construction of a provisional access to the North Ecopark from the GC-3, a project that aims to divert more than 200 daily trucks from Salto del Negro.

The Department of Environment, Climate, Energy, and Knowledge of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria has reported on the progress of the works for the new provisional access to the North Ecopark, which will connect directly to the GC-3. This initiative seeks to divert a significant portion of the heavy traffic that currently passes through the Salto del Negro neighborhood.
The main objective of this action is to mitigate the disturbances caused by waste transport, including noise and odors, affecting local residents. The work, awarded to Hnos. García Álamo S.L. with an investment of 714,500 euros (including IGIC), has already reached 35% completion and is expected to be finished in August.
During a site visit, the Minister of Environment, Raúl García Brink, emphasized that the project responds to a historical "neighborhood demand." "Our goal is to minimize these disturbances and improve their quality of life," he stated, noting that technical limitations prevented a full direct access from the GC-3, leading to the adoption of a viable solution to reduce truck traffic through Salto del Negro while permanent solutions are sought.
