The Impact4Mar project, funded by Interreg Atlantic Area, aims to provide small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the maritime sector with tools and methodologies to assess their impacts, risks, and opportunities regarding sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
The first meeting of the Advisory Board virtually gathered representatives from the Atlantic maritime ecosystem. During the session, initial project advancements were presented, and the first recommendations for promoting the sustainable transition of maritime SMEs in the region were collected.
PLOCAN's participation, as a Scientific and Technical Singular Infrastructure (ICTS) specializing in marine research and innovation, will contribute expertise in international cooperation and the practical application of knowledge and technology in oceanic environments.
The workstreams of Impact4Mar include analyzing impact and risk assessment practices, designing and validating tools through pilot projects with SMEs, and disseminating results via a digital platform and intensive training programs.
The project, set to run from November 2025 to April 2028, has a budget of 1.43 million euros, with 1.07 million euros provided by the European Regional Development Fund. It is led by the Technological University of Shannon: Midlands Midwest and involves entities from Ireland, France, Portugal, and Spain.
