The Minister of Education for the Canarian Government, Poli Suárez, will defend his management during Storm Therese in the upcoming parliamentary plenary session, at the request of his own party and the PSOE.

Storm Therese led to the suspension of in-person classes on several islands and caused confusion in Gran Canaria on March 24, when the Ministry of Education announced an early dismissal of students only to later retract it, following instructions from emergency teams.

"I would do the same again, act in the same way, correcting the errors that were made."

Suárez emphasized that the errors were a consequence of an unforeseen situation that neither the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) nor security and emergency services could control. The minister assured that the Ministry does not act unilaterally but follows the instructions of emergency experts, prioritizing the safety of students and educational staff.
The minister insisted that the decisions, including rectifications, respond to the responsibility inherent in his position. He questioned criticism from the PSOE and Podemos, stating that politics cannot be made with people's safety and lives, and that his focus is on finding solutions.
