This measure is based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, in accordance with the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Adverse Meteorological Phenomena Risks (PEFMA).
The alert affects the peaks and the southern half of the island of Gran Canaria, as well as the southern half of Fuerteventura. Temperatures are expected to rise progressively, potentially reaching up to 35 degrees Celsius in the peaks and mid-altitude areas of southern Gran Canaria, with isolated peaks of 36 degrees in the Tirajana basin and southern-facing ravines. Some areas of the southeastern coast of Gran Canaria could also experience similar temperatures.
In the interior of the southern half of Fuerteventura, forecasts predict temperatures between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius, with the possibility of exceeding 35 degrees in some inland areas. Southeastern coastal areas may reach values close to 34 degrees.
Furthermore, high nighttime temperatures are anticipated in the most affected zones, which could hinder rest and thermal recovery.
