The General Directorate of Emergencies has made this decision based on information provided by the State Meteorological Agency and other available sources, in application of the Specific Emergency Plan of the Canary Islands for Risks of Adverse Meteorological Phenomena (PEFMA).
The alert will affect the peaks and midlands of the south and west-facing slopes of Tenerife. In Gran Canaria, it includes the peak areas, the high midlands of the north, and generally the west, south, and east-facing slopes of the island.
A period of high temperatures is expected, particularly affecting the central islands of the archipelago. In Gran Canaria, temperatures will generally exceed 34ºC in the peaks and the southwestern interior, potentially reaching 37ºC locally. In Tenerife, generalized maximums above 30ºC are forecast for all peaks and midlands in the west and south of the island, with local peaks reaching up to 34ºC.
