The Gran Canaria Economic Promotion Society (SPEGC), an entity attached to the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, continues its work in promoting specialized training and employability with the launch of two new courses. These training initiatives are developed in collaboration with the multinational company Ghenova and are aimed at qualifying and adapting university and vocational training (FP) profiles for the naval sector, thus responding to the high demand for professionals on the island.
These programs are part of Ghenova's growth context in Gran Canaria, where it plans to create 40 new jobs. Last July, the SPEGC and Ghenova began this joint initiative with an 'Introduction to Naval Design Workshop', which was attended by over 50 people.
Starting in October, a new phase of the project will begin with two free one-month courses. These courses will train attendees to work in the naval sector from November onwards, directly enhancing the employability of university graduates and FP profiles in Gran Canaria. The training program has been co-designed and will be delivered by professionals from Ghenova.
Both training programs will commence on October 5th, will be organized in the afternoon to facilitate work-life or study-life balance for attendees, and will have 20 places per course. They will be held at the Maritime-Marine Innovation Center (CIMM), located in the Fundación Puerto Las Palmas Building, next to the El Muelle Shopping Center.
To precisely adapt the training and delve deeper into the subject matter, the courses have been divided into two distinct professional profiles. The ‘Introduction to the Naval Sector – Detail Engineering’ course is aimed at graduates and students of any Engineering branch (excluding Computer Science and Civil Engineering), focusing on adapting their technical knowledge to the specific characteristics and tools of naval design. The ‘Adaptation of Vocational Training Profiles to Naval Design – Technical Electrical Drafting’ course is specifically designed for graduates of Higher Vocational Training Cycles in Electricity, Electronics, Drafting, or Mechanical Manufacturing, specializing them in drafting applied to naval design.
Places are limited to ensure the quality of the training. Allocation will be based on the suitability of the applicants' academic and professional profiles.
