The seismic movement, which occurred at 9:50 AM, was widely perceived across the islands. In Gran Canaria, witnesses described their cars swaying, houses vibrating with intense noises, and office chairs moving. In Arucas, the tremor was described as 'very strong,' while moments of tension were experienced at the health center in Santa María de Guía and the municipal pavilion.
The earthquake's epicenter was located 61 kilometers from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, at a depth of 30 kilometers. The shaking was felt throughout almost the entire island, although less noticeably in the center of the capital city of Gran Canaria.
The earthquake also made itself felt on other islands. In Anaga, Tenerife, several people clearly reported feeling it. In Fuerteventura, especially in Betancuria, house windows trembled during what some residents described as a 'long' shake, potentially lasting up to 20 seconds.
The seismic movement reached intensity III in various parts of Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and Fuerteventura, being clearly perceptible indoors and causing objects to oscillate. The most affected areas in Gran Canaria included the north, the southeast (Ingenio, Arinaga), the center (Teror, San Mateo), and the south (Mogán, Tunte). In Fuerteventura, it was felt in Pájara, Puerto del Rosario, and Betancuria, and in Tenerife in Santa Úrsula, Garachico, and Granadilla.
More faintly, the earthquake reached more distant points such as Santiago del Teide in Tenerife and Gran Tarajal in Fuerteventura, where only the most sensitive individuals perceived the shaking.
