The fair will cover an area of 34,000 square meters and showcase 52 sports modalities, with a special focus on nautical and beach sports. The initiative aims to establish itself as a benchmark event for the Canary Islands' sports industry, foster its growth as an industry, and introduce new disciplines to the public.
Poli Suárez, Minister of Education, Vocational Training, Physical Activity and Sports of the Government of the Canary Islands, and Minerva Alonso, Minister of Economic Development, Industry, Trade and Craftsmanship of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, presented the program. The fair will bring together approximately 161 organizations, including exhibitors, federations, and clubs, and will feature 34 talks, lectures, and professional meetings, in addition to competitions and exhibitions.
ExpoDeca, which attracted 17,465 people in its first edition in Gran Canaria in 2024 and reached 24,866 visitors in Tenerife in 2025, stands out this year for holding all its activities outdoors. Suárez emphasized that the event "has carved out an important niche in the Canary Islands' sports calendar" and that "sport is health, it is education, and it is also a very important economic activity for the Canary Islands."
The sports sector represents approximately 4.5 percent of the gross domestic product of the Canary Islands, with an economic impact exceeding 5,700 million euros annually and nearly 30,000 direct jobs. Alonso, for her part, highlighted Infecar's capacity to organize strategic events and the value of institutional and public-private cooperation.
The program will include established sports such as football, basketball, handball, climbing, volleyball, canoeing, athletics, paddle tennis, sailing, cycling, and Nordic walking, alongside new offerings like beach tennis, mini tennis, zip-lining, rugby, baseball, calisthenics, skateboarding, aerial sports, and agility. Traditional Canarian games and sports, such as Canarian wrestling and the shepherd's leap, as well as nautical and beach sports, will also be featured.
In addition to participatory activities, ExpoDeca will host official competitions such as the final of the Government of the Canary Islands Kickboxing and Muay Thai Cup, the Hyatlón Ambar Tour, and the Gran Canaria Challenge. The Canary Islands Urban Dance Championship will also take place.
Educational centers will play a prominent role on November 12 and 13, with nearly a hundred schools confirmed to participate. The fair will also feature the exhibition "Legends of Sport," the Congress of the Spanish Sports Management Associations Federation (FAGDE), and the 2026 Canary Islands Sports Awards ceremony.
The Alfredo Kraus Auditorium will serve as the venue for talks and lectures on sports management, health, equality, and inclusion. ExpoDeca 2026 is promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands and organized by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria through Infecar, with sponsorship from various entities.
