This Wednesday, September 23, starting at 5:00 PM, the La Guancha Casco Senior Center will host an informative meeting about the «Al Golpito» project. This initiative, promoted by the Government of the Canary Islands through the Ministry of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Childhood, and Families, is jointly developed by the foundations of Club Deportivo Tenerife and Unión Deportiva Las Palmas.
The main objective of «Al Golpito» is to promote active and healthy aging among the elderly. To achieve this, it uses sports, particularly adapted football, as a fundamental tool to encourage physical activity, socialization, and emotional well-being for participants.
One of the project's key proposals is walking football, an adapted modality with simple rules that allows this sport to be practiced in an accessible and suitable way for seniors. This modality aims to facilitate participation for everyone, regardless of their physical condition.
In addition to sports practice, the project includes other complementary activities. These include guided routes, volunteer actions, stadium visits, and specific training sessions. All these actions aim to create spaces for meeting and participation, actively contributing to combating unwanted loneliness among the elderly.
The La Guancha City Council extends an invitation to all seniors in the municipality to attend this meeting. The event will offer the opportunity to learn firsthand about an initiative that promotes staying active, sharing experiences, and enjoying sports as a path to a fulfilling life.
