Last Thursday, April 16, the archaeological site of La Guancha became the setting for an innovative initiative in the Canary Islands. This experience is part of LegacIA, a social innovation project driven by El Museo Canario and funded by the Canarian Agency for Research, Innovation and the Information Society (ACIISI).
The event focused on the presentation of D.A.R.Y.L., an acronym for Archaeological Dynamizer of Responses for Sites and Places. This virtual assistant has been designed to improve how citizens access, understand, and engage with the region's historical heritage.
Attendees had the opportunity to tour La Guancha guided by D.A.R.Y.L., experiencing how this tool can offer content adapted to the specific context of the site. This facilitates a more complete and dynamic interpretation of the location, making heritage more accessible.
“"This type of initiative allows us to bring heritage closer to new audiences and explore more accessible and contemporary ways of interpreting it."
Beyond the technological demonstration, the event highlighted the impact of LegacIA in key areas such as innovation in heritage management and dissemination, the adoption of new technologies, and the creation of cultural and educational experiences for the public.
The LegacIA project plans to continue promoting new routes and experiences in other archaeological sites and museums across the archipelago, solidifying its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and cultural accessibility in the Canary Islands.
