“"We understand that recent torrential rains have caused landslides in El Rejo requiring conservation efforts. However, given the strategic importance of this route for reaching the airport and connecting the north with the south and vice versa, we ask that a technical solution be prioritized to allow its partial or total reopening under safe conditions as soon as possible."

Winding road through a green volcanic landscape in the Canary Islands.
A political organization in La Gomera has called on the Island Council for the swift reopening of the CV-14 road in El Rejo, essential for re-establishing connectivity between the island's south and north, currently impacted by closures and restrictions.
The political organization Iniciativa por La Gomera (IxLG) has publicly voiced its concern regarding the mobility challenges facing the island. The group has received complaints from users and businesses due to the simultaneous indefinite closure of the El Rejo (CV-14) road and traffic restrictions on the section connecting Laguna Grande with Juego de Bolas.
The Gomera-based group emphasizes the importance of the island administration being sensitive to the reality experienced by residents of Hermigua, Agulo, and their hamlets. These roads represent a vital link between the GM-1 and GM-2. When both routes are simultaneously affected, residents and productive sectors are forced to take significant detours via San Sebastián or Vallehermoso, leading to a considerable increase in daily travel time and costs.
Finally, the organization has urged the island institution to improve communication with users and to optimize project timelines to normalize traffic in these areas, which are considered crucial for La Gomera's connectivity.
