The XXII Hermigua – La Carbonera Hill Climb, organized by Escudería Gomera Racing, takes place this weekend in La Gomera, featuring nearly 60 teams and counting towards both the Spanish Hill Climb Cup and the BP Canary Islands Championship.

The highly anticipated week of the Hermigua – La Carbonera Hill Climb has arrived in La Gomera. This competition, organized by Escudería Gomera Racing, is consolidated for the second consecutive year as part of the Spanish Hill Climb Cup, attracting close to 60 teams. The iconic ramp, which will reach its twenty-second edition in 2026, promises strong emotions for fans.
In addition to its national relevance, the Gomera event will kick off the BP Canary Islands Hill Climb Championship and the provincial championship of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for the specialty. It will also feature an inter-island section, ensuring the continuity of this course in various competitions.
One of the notable novelties is the debut of a car cross on asphalt on the island. A local driver will take the wheel of a La Base SX01, a single-seater in Category 3. In this same category, the current national champion will compete with his BRC 02, entered with number one. The reigning regional champion, for his part, will repeat with his BRC05. Other participants in this section include a Silver Car S3, a Demon Car CM R2, and a Speed Car GTR.
Category 1, dedicated to touring cars, will also feature the presence of the current national champion of the Spanish Cup, who will compete with his Porsche 991.1 GT3. He will face the regional champion, who on this occasion will drive a Skoda Fabia R5 to begin the defense of his title. Behind them, a wide list of teams will seek the podium, including drivers with Porsche 997 GT3 Cup, Ford Fiesta R5, and Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX.
Other specialists in the discipline, such as a driver with a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX, another with a SEAT León Supercopa, and a third with a BMW M3 E36, have not wanted to miss the event. Newcomers to the island are also expected, such as a Ford RS 200 and a Citroën Xsara Kit Car. The sport regularity modality will add more than a dozen teams, with two of them in low average, highlighting vehicles such as the Volkswagen Golf GTI MKII and the Volkswagen Golf MKI, along with other classics such as the BMW 635 CSI and the BMW 320.
The activities for the XXII Hermigua – La Carbonera Hill Climb will commence on Friday, May 15. Document collection will begin at 3:00 PM at the Centro Socio Cultural Antiguo Casino. Technical verifications will start at 3:15 PM, taking place between the main road of Hermigua and Cooperativa Street. The provisional list of authorized vehicles will be published at 9:00 PM.
