The initiative, taking place in San Sebastián de La Gomera from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, will feature various activities designed to raise awareness about the importance of reducing waste, extending product lifespan, and adopting more sustainable daily habits.
The president of the Cabildo, Casimiro Curbelo, has encouraged participation in this event that combines environmental awareness, education, and community spirit, emphasizing the need to move towards a more responsible model for the environment.
For his part, the insular coordinator of the Biosphere Reserve, Diego Chinea, highlighted that the event serves as an open space for practical learning and reinforces the island's commitment to environmental protection.
The program includes a second-hand market promoted by local associations, a 'km0' products area to value proximity consumption, and a children's workshop using recycled materials.
Also present will be the children's recycling workshop ‘Tus pequeños vecinos’, the socio-forestry project Plánta-te from the Cabildo, and the initiative ‘La Gomera composta’ by AIDER La Gomera.
Additionally, a workshop on making soap with recycled oil will be held (4:00 PM - 6:00 PM), followed by a workshop on bees and organic honey with a tasting (6:00 PM - 7:00 PM), concluding with the ‘Sembrando vida’ workshop on vermicomposting and seedbeds (7:00 PM - 8:00 PM).
The activity is organized within the framework of the Biosphere Reserve, funded by the Cabildo, and in collaboration with the Ayuntamiento de San Sebastián de La Gomera.
