The article, written by Brian Schæfer Dreyer, explores ten experiences that showcase the island's appeal, inviting readers to discover its mist-shrouded forests, black sand beaches, ravines, and villages. The publication emphasizes a leisurely appreciation of the territory and an offering that connects the landscape with gastronomy, traditions, and the daily life of its communities.
The Minister of Tourism, Commerce, and Consumption for the Cabildo of La Gomera, María Isabel Méndez, noted that this journalistic work is the result of one of the press trips promoted by the island council. "This report allows us to introduce Danish audiences to some of the values that define La Gomera: the richness of our nature, the tranquility, and an identity discovered by exploring our villages and meeting the people who live in them," Méndez stated, highlighting these as "essential attributes for a tourism model that respects the territory and is linked to the local population."
The Garajonay National Park holds a prominent place, with the article recalling its UNESCO World Heritage status. It describes the laurisilva forest, its humidity, and moss-covered trunks as a setting for hiking, and highlights the views from mountain roads and viewpoints, as well as the presence of emblematic rock formations like the Roque de Agando.
The article's journey continues through San Sebastián de La Gomera, whose relaxed atmosphere coexists with its commerce and historical heritage; Agulo, for its colorful streets and facades; and Vallehermoso, for its landscape and botanical richness. The beaches of Valle Gran Rey and excursions for whale watching complete a selection showcasing the island's diverse experiences.
Gastronomy also receives its own space, with references to palm honey, gofio, and wines made from the Forastera Gomera variety. These products introduce readers to local flavors and their connection to the land.
Méndez added, "The value of our tourist offering also lies in the link between nature, culture, and local products. We want our visitors to enjoy La Gomera with respect, contribute to the economy of our villages, and understand the importance of preserving what makes the island unique."
