The President of the La Gomera Island Council, Casimiro Curbelo, has conveyed the island's solidarity with the Venezuelan people following recent earthquakes, assuring the institution's commitment to support those affected, particularly the resident Gomera community.

The island's top representative reported that the Island Council maintains constant communication with the Benéfico Cultural Isla de La Gomera Association. This entity serves as a reference point to closely understand the situation of affected families and to coordinate, if necessary, the aid measures required to meet their most urgent needs.
Curbelo highlighted the deep historical and familial ties that connect La Gomera with Venezuela, emphasizing the obligation to offer support during difficult times. "The solidarity of the Gomera people has always been present, and today it is even stronger," stated the insular president.
Furthermore, the president of the Island Council is in contact with the President of the Government of the Canary Islands to coordinate information and evaluate potential joint actions among the Canarian institutions. "We are prudently following the developments and are fully prepared to collaborate in anything that helps alleviate the situation of those affected," he noted.
It was recalled that the previous week, the La Gomera Island Council had already allocated resources to various projects in Venezuela, managed through the aforementioned association. This collaboration is part of the institution's ongoing commitment to the Canarian community abroad and support for social and welfare initiatives for vulnerable populations.

"Venezuela is part of La Gomera's family history. Many links unite us with this country, and in times of difficulty, our obligation is to be close to those who need us."
