Recently, La Gomera hosted transparency training sessions aimed at local entities. The Canarian Transparency Commissioner, along with technical officials from the body, participated in this meeting, addressing crucial aspects to optimize compliance with active publicity obligations and the right to access information.
During the session, the main evaluation results for the year 2024 on the island were presented. In the private entity sector, six organizations were assessed, with an academy standing out with a perfect score of 10 and a women's association with 9.46. Regarding public entities, the Insular Water Council of La Gomera achieved the maximum score (10), followed by the Cabildo Insular de La Gomera (9.41) and the Ayuntamiento de Valle Gran Rey (9.24).
Furthermore, data related to the right of access to public information in 2025 was analyzed. In total, 10 files were processed on the island, of which 80% (eight cases) corresponded to situations of administrative silence, while the remaining 20% (two cases) were expressly resolved.
“"Transparency is not only a legal obligation but an essential tool to build trust in citizens. Sessions like this allow us to support local entities in continuous improvement and in reducing practices such as administrative silence, which remains one of the main challenges."
These sessions, carried out in collaboration with the Canarian Federation of Municipalities (FECAM), are part of the Transparency Commissioner's strategy to strengthen the culture of transparency at the local level, providing practical tools and technical guidance to obligated administrations and entities.
