The Cabildo of La Gomera is advancing emergency works to stabilize slopes on the road connecting the town of Vallehermoso with its coastal area, improving the road's safety.

Protection and stabilization efforts are progressively underway along the three kilometers of the affected route, prioritizing areas with greater instability to enhance the safety of this crucial road connection.
The President of the Cabildo, Casimiro Curbelo, highlighted the importance of these works for Vallehermoso, emphasizing that the project not only improves the main link between the town and the coast but also prepares the infrastructure against potential landslides and adverse weather events.
The intervention, with an estimated investment of 989,215 euros, addresses the damage caused by Storm Therese along this approximately three-kilometer stretch.
The Mayor of Vallehermoso, Emiliano Coello, stressed the strategic significance of the road for residents, farmers, and users of the Maritime Park and beach, and praised the coordination with the Cabildo to adapt solutions to the specific characteristics of each section.
Meanwhile, the insular Minister of Public Works, Cristina Ventura, explained that the project includes the cleaning and stabilization of slopes, the installation of support systems and dynamic barriers, reinforcement of walls, and repair of affected road surfaces, tailoring technical solutions to the conditions of each slope.
The road, which serves homes, agricultural operations, and coastal facilities, suffered damage that led to traffic disruptions and safety risks. Users are reminded to exercise extreme caution and adhere to signage during the ongoing works.
