The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, met with representatives from the Associations of Mothers and Fathers of Students (AMPAS) of the schools CEIP San Juan de Haría, La Garita de Arrieta, and Las Mercedes de Mala. During the meeting, families expressed the need to improve the conditions of the educational centers to cope with the high temperatures registered for a significant part of the school year.
Among the main demands from the AMPAs is the installation of air conditioning or climate control systems in classrooms. They also request the creation of new shaded areas in the outdoor spaces of the centers, seeking solutions adapted to the specific characteristics and needs of each school.
The Haría City Council will forward these needs to the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands. It will be requested that these needs be considered in the planning of future budgets, with the aim of providing the centers with measures that improve the comfort of students and teaching staff during the school day.
“"The families have communicated a specific need that affects the daily life of the centers, which we have passed on to the competent Administration."
For her part, the councilor for Education, Evelia García, added that it is essential to “seek solutions adapted to each school to improve the stay in classrooms for students and teachers”. The Consistory will make this request jointly with the AMPAS of the three centers, with the intention that the actions be evaluated within the planning of educational investments by the Ministry.
