The Breña Baja City Council has taken a significant step in its sustainable development strategy by implementing a solar public lighting plan, enhancing nighttime safety and energy efficiency in several areas of the municipality.

With a total investment of 31,956 euros, the municipality has installed autonomous photovoltaic luminaires in two neighborhoods and local roads, in addition to the previous installation of photovoltaic panels in all municipal centers. This initiative aims to improve visibility in areas that historically lacked adequate lighting.

"This action responds to the commitment made in the municipality with various residents and their surroundings. We are not only improving visibility in areas that historically lacked it, but we are doing so with zero energy cost. Fulfilling the roadmap set for this legislature of efficiency and respect, and creating a benchmark municipality in sustainability within the island context."

Borja Pérez · Mayor of Breña Baja
The Councillor for Public Works, Daniel Cabrera, explained the technical relevance of this measure, highlighting the strategic choice of locations such as Cuesta de El Socorro and Callejón de Cuba. Solar technology allows for quick and effective action, eliminating the need for complex electrical channeling works.

"We have strategically selected points such as Cuesta de El Socorro and Callejón de Cuba because solar technology allows us to act quickly and effectively without the need for complex electrical channeling works. These are state-of-the-art equipment that guarantee autonomy and safety for residents."
