The air facility of La Palma not only surpassed its previous year's figures but also led the percentage growth among all Canary Islands airports during August 2026. This substantial boost highlights the recovery and increase in air traffic on the island.
Across the Canary Islands as a whole, the archipelago's airports handled a total of 4,768,328 passengers in August, representing a slight increase of 0.8% compared to August 2025. Of this total, 4,759,141 were from commercial flights, divided into 2,213,956 travelers on domestic routes (up 1.2%) and 2,545,185 on international flights (up 1.1%).
The remaining Canary Islands airports also showed positive trends, albeit with less intensity than La Palma. Gran Canaria recorded 1,334,497 passengers (+3.1%), Tenerife North-Ciudad de La Laguna handled 699,814 (+2.4%), Fuerteventura reached 640,687 (+1.9%), Lanzarote counted 830,015 (+0.5%), and La Gomera 14,714 (+3%). On the other hand, Tenerife South experienced a 4.2% decrease with 1,064,586 passengers, and El Hierro a 3.1% increase with 35,158.
During the first eight months of 2026, Canary Islands airports accumulated 36,314,210 travelers, a 0.2% decrease from the same period in 2025. Domestic flights accounted for 15,085,950 passengers (+0.6%), while international flights reached 21,088,675 (-0.5%). Over this period, 324,581 aircraft movements were managed (+0.9%), and 20,359 tons of cargo were transported (-4.3%).
