This initiative, developed in collaboration with the Canarian Employment Service and the State Public Employment Service (SEPE), is structured into four key projects. Its main objective is to improve employability on the island, paying special attention to the most vulnerable groups after the volcanic eruption.
“"This type of initiative translates into concrete opportunities for those who need to enter the labor market and, at the same time, strengthens essential Cabildo services, improving the attention provided to citizens."
The 4.9 million euros are distributed among projects covering fundamental areas such as social action, agriculture, public works, and the environment. The contracts associated with these initiatives have a duration of ten months and began last February.
One of the pillars is the Comprehensive Employment Plan of the Canary Islands (PIEC) La Palma, with an allocation of 1.29 million euros, which will allow the hiring of 45 qualified professionals. Among the profiles sought are graduates in Law, Business Administration and Management, Biology, Economics, various engineering fields (Agronomic, Industrial, and Public Works), as well as graduates in Labor Relations and Accounting and Finance. Agricultural and forestry technical engineers, administrative assistants, veterinary assistants, and environmental monitors are also included.
The Extraordinary Psychosocial Employment Plan (PEX) La Palma, with a subsidy of 700,000 euros, will create 22 jobs in the social sphere. This project aims to offer psychosocial support to vulnerable groups, such as people affected by the volcanic eruption, people with disabilities or mental health problems, in addition to promoting equality and preventing gender violence.
The third project, Cuidar para crecer (Care to Grow), with an investment of one million euros, will create 43 jobs in the social and socio-health sector. These professionals will reinforce care for dependency in island infrastructures such as the Hospital de Dolores, the La Dehesa Residence for the Elderly, and the centers of the La Palma Insular Network for Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Mental Health.
Finally, the project Actuando para la inserción (Acting for Insertion), with two million euros, will generate 87 jobs focused on improving roads, ravines, and infrastructures, directly contributing to the social and territorial recovery of the island after the volcanic crisis. All projects will conclude in December 2026, strengthening public services and alleviating the economic situation of numerous families in La Palma.
