This pioneering gathering will, for the first time, bring together professionals from various media outlets in La Palma, including those currently active and those who, though no longer practicing, continue to collaborate with the sector. The forum has been conceived as a space for reunion and reflection on the trajectory of media on the island.
During the event, which will be entirely led by the professionals themselves, a historical journey will be made from the arrival of the first media outlets in La Palma and the pioneers who paved the way, to the current evolution with the emergence of streaming platforms.
The name Meeting of Media Professionals of La Palma emphasizes the intention to include all stakeholders who make the media ecosystem possible: from writers, broadcasters, and presenters, to technicians, commercial agents, and the executives who, in the early 90s, promoted private initiative media on the island.
The event will feature the participation of prominent journalistic figures such as Luis Ortega Abraham, Luis León Barreto, Julio Marante, Carmen Ramos, Amado González, and Cristina Alcaine, among others. The initiative aims to recall the years when La Palma's cultural effervescence led to the coexistence of multiple newspapers, and how, gradually, radio, television, and digital press emerged.
