The rescue operation began in the morning after receiving a phone call from one of the occupants of the inflatable boat, reporting their departure from Agadir, in southern Morocco, with 107 people on board.
Initially, Salvamento Marítimo dispatched a merchant ship for support while two rescue vessels, the Al Nair and the Ácrux, based in Lanzarote, were en route to the area.
During the journey, the Salvamar Ácrux located and assisted another raft carrying 46 men, two women, and two minors.
Meanwhile, the Al Nair completed the rescue of the 107 individuals from the first vessel. A definitive count of the inflatable boat's occupants is not yet available.
Both rescue vessels are currently heading to the port of Arrecife, where their arrival is expected this afternoon.
