Access barriers at the bus parking lot of Lanzarote Airport.

The bus parking area at Lanzarote César Manrique Airport is now equipped with operational barriers to control vehicle access and exit.

The barriers installed at the bus parking lot of Lanzarote César Manrique Airport have begun operating. To exit the premises, bus drivers must use a card provided upon entry.
Although the parking facility is currently free to use, the airport management intends to introduce a charging system. This plan is not supported by Lanzarote's discretionary transport business owners, who are considering pressure tactics.
The investment for the installation of these control elements, including barriers and validation machines, exceeded 172,000 euros, taxes included. The initiative, announced in the autumn of 2024, aims to enhance the rotation and flow of all transport modes in the arrivals area.
The stated goal is to enable buses, whose occupancy has been increasing, to use the parking area efficiently for passenger pick-ups. Furthermore, the initiative seeks to discourage improper use of the space.
