Famara Total attracts 1,259 participants to Lanzarote

The eleventh edition of the trail race will take place from August 13-15, featuring seven modalities, including children's races and hiking.

The eleventh edition of the Famara Total will be held from August 13-15 in La Caleta de Famara, Teguise, gathering 1,259 participants across seven sports modalities.

The XI edition of the Famara Total has begun its countdown, with a total of 1,259 confirmed participations for the sporting event set to take place from August 13 to 15, 2026. The trail running event will once again be set in the surroundings of La Caleta de Famara, in Teguise, Lanzarote.
The competition, officially presented in La Caleta, combines various race distances, a hiking modality, and specific activities for children, in addition to the traditional Vertical Nocturna. The overall figure for this edition highlights participation across all proposed events.

The longest race, 45 kilometers, has 94 registered participants. The 25-kilometer races will have 192 runners, the 15-kilometer event will reach 202 participants, and the 7.5-kilometer race will gather 229 athletes. These are joined by 84 participants in hiking and 124 in the Vertical Nocturna.
The Famara Total Chinija, aimed at children, is the modality with the highest participation, totaling 334 registered participants. The organization has designed a program for different levels, from experienced runners to those new to mountain sports.
The mayor of Teguise, Olivia Duque, highlighted the race's strong connection with La Caleta de Famara, the event's birthplace, and noted the increase in female participation. The Councilor for Sports, Alejandro Ramírez, emphasized the event's growth in participant numbers and sporting level.
Among the notable runners are Edwin Camacho and Valeria Hernández, participating in the Vertical Nocturna and the 15 km race, respectively. Lanzarote locals Sergio Machín and César Machín will also compete. At 60 years old, Bárbara Reyes will tackle the Vertical Nocturna and serve as a sweep runner in the 25 km race.
The schedule begins on Thursday with the Vertical Nocturna (9:00 PM). Friday will feature the Famara Total Chinija (6:30 PM) for younger participants. The main day, Saturday, August 15, will host the trail and hiking distances, with staggered starts from 7:00 AM for the 45 km race up to 9:30 AM for the 7.5 km and hiking. The overall classification awards ceremony is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
