The island of Lanzarote is preparing to host a new edition of the Palabras al Vuelo International Oral Narration Festival, which will take place between October 8th and 18th. This cultural event, in its 14th edition, will bring together six storytellers from four countries and two continents, who will offer free access workshops and performances for both adult and family audiences.
The lineup of storytellers includes Wangari from Kenya; Pepito Mateo from France; Simone Negrín from Italy; Pablo Albo from Albacete, and Estrella Escriña from Madrid. These artists will present a diverse repertoire of stories, gestures, languages, and traditions that will enliven various venues and landscapes in municipalities such as Arrecife, San Bartolomé, Tías, Haría, and Yaiza.
With the aim of bringing the world of storytelling closer to the foreign population residing on the island, tourists, and students of English, French, and Italian, oral narration will be presented in various languages. Places for workshops and attendance at shows in reduced spaces or natural settings will require prior registration, opening on September 28th. A deposit will be established to guarantee attendance and prevent uncovered capacities, which will be fully refunded at the end of each event.
The only paid activity will be "Cuentos surcando las olas" (Stories Surfing the Waves), which will combine Simone Negrín's tales from The Decameron with a catamaran trip along the coast, a snack, and a musical performance by Angie&Eva.
