The Biosphere Reserve of Lanzarote has received 24 projects from non-profit entities for its funding, in a call launched by the Cabildo.

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has announced the receipt of proposals from 24 non-profit organizations for the Biosphere Reserve's grant program. These funds are intended for entities operating in Lanzarote and La Graciosa that carry out activities aligned with the guidelines of UNESCO's MaB (Man and the Biosphere) program.
A technical committee will evaluate the proposals based on established scoring and assessment criteria. Given the high level of interest, the responsible councilor, Samuel Martín, has indicated that the possibility of increasing the initially allocated budget will be considered.
The submitted initiatives are categorized into four main thematic areas. The first focuses on the environment, biodiversity, and sustainability, encompassing projects for ecosystem conservation, fauna protection, energy efficiency, carbon footprint reduction, and circular economy.
The second area addresses agroecology and sustainable territorial development, including proposals on organic farming, community gardens, permaculture, soil regeneration, and sustainable livestock production.
Education, dissemination, and social participation form the third axis, with projects on environmental education, citizen science, social inclusion, volunteering, and community communication.
Finally, the fourth area is dedicated to research and the enhancement of natural and cultural heritage, with actions aimed at studying and conserving historical, artistic, and landscape elements, as well as fostering scientific cooperation.
