These programs receive an annual funding of nearly 562,000 euros from the Ministry of Social Welfare of the Canary Islands Government and over 316,000 euros from the Cabildo of Lanzarote. The Vice-Minister of Social Welfare, Francisco Candil, and the Minister of Social Welfare and Inclusion of the Cabildo, Marci Acuña, visited the entity's facilities to learn about the projects' outcomes.
The 'Accompaniment to Elderly in Solitude' program supports 52 elderly individuals, 36 of whom are women, offering assistance with daily needs such as medical appointments, shopping, and banking, aiming to enhance their well-being and autonomy.
The Shelter House for the homeless has provided food, hygiene, and accommodation for 60 people this year (51 men and 6 women). Currently, its 17 places are occupied with 5 individuals on a waiting list, serving as a crucial resource for those without shelter.
Other programs include the 'Social Promotion Project', benefiting 147 people (114 men and 33 women) with dining and personal hygiene services, and the 'La Sereta Project', which assists 188 individuals (109 adults and 79 minors), primarily single-parent families with children and high unemployment rates.
Additionally, the 'Accompaniment and Support Project for people at risk or in social exclusion', launched in April, is assisting another 31 elderly individuals. The organization has also received funds for the acquisition of a 9-seater vehicle.
The Cabildo of Lanzarote allocates over 316,000 euros annually to these programs, with more than 250,000 euros dedicated to the Shelter House. Minister Marci Acuña highlighted Fundación Flora Acoge's work as a "key piece in the social inclusion policies" of the island, emphasizing that the entity not only covers basic needs but also supports inclusion processes and fosters future opportunities.
Fundación Flora Acoge employs a team of 29 workers with technical expertise in Social Work, Psychology, therapy, education, domestic assistance, and kitchen, coordination, and administration staff, all linked to these projects.
