The arrival of Pope Leo XIV in Gran Canaria has generated significant anticipation, with around 200 residents from Lanzarote finalizing details to attend the large mass scheduled at the Gran Canaria Stadium. Pilgrims, parish groups, and families are organizing their participation in this central event of the pontifical journey.
The religious celebration is one of the highlights of the Pontiff's agenda in the islands. The visit, commencing on June 11, will also include a tour of the port of Arguineguín and the Cathedral of Santa Ana before the eucharist. Juan Carlos Medina, parish priest of the Church of San Ginés, explained that the mobilization of these 200 believers is driven by the historic significance of the event for the Catholic community.
Those still interested in attending the mass can register through the platform set up by the organization. Thousands of people from all the islands are expected to attend, making this encounter a milestone for the Canary Islands.
The visit has institutional backing. The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will receive Pope Leo XIV in Gran Canaria and will participate in the visit to Arguineguín. King Felipe VI will attend the farewell ceremonies in Tenerife the following day, underscoring the national and international importance of the event.
