More than 1,400 triathletes are set to compete this Saturday in the 34th edition of the Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote, an event gathering the international elite on the island.
The countdown to the 34th edition of the Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote has entered its final stretch. The finish area in Puerto del Carmen was this morning the scene of the pre-event press conference, which brought together five of the most prominent figures in international long-distance triathlon, anticipating a spectacular sporting battle for Saturday.
The meeting featured an unprecedented roster of stars, gathering numerous champions of the discipline. The triathletes shared their physical sensations, their strategies for tackling the demanding Lanzarote course, and the high expectations with which they approach this emblematic challenge.
“
"Club La Santa helped me discover IRONMAN when I first went there as a swimmer; in 2016, I registered for IRONMAN Lanzarote as my first professional race."
“
"If I win the race, it will be my first victory in Europe, so it would be very special for me. But it's impossible to break current records and complete the marathon in under 2:30."
“
"This race will test my endurance. My goal is to finish the race to validate my spot in Kona, and I believe I'm heading in the right direction."
“
"Club La Santa has been a great help for training here. This will be my fourth time participating, so I know the routes well. It would be a success if I manage to qualify for Kona."
“
"Last year I took a big step in my career; now I can focus entirely on my recovery."
“
"It's not sad to host the last IRONMAN Lanzarote. I am extremely proud of the legacy and that the race continues in Lanzarote."
With the presence of the international elite and over 1,400 triathletes ready to start, anticipation on the island is at its peak. This Saturday, the Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote will once again become the global epicenter of triathlon, pitting the world's best against each other in a unique setting.
