The PSOE of Lanzarote inaugurated its Feminist School last Friday in Arrecife, a space for reflection and training on equality, and presented the 'Transforming Women' Awards, with the presence of former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.

The Sociedad Democracia in Arrecife hosted the inauguration of the Feminist School by the PSOE of Lanzarote. This new initiative, as explained by María Dolores Corujo, general secretary of the PSOE of Lanzarote, aims to become a hub for critical thinking and action to promote genuine equality, actively building rights through politics and collective effort.
The program included a round table discussion titled Advancing Equality through Public and Social Action, which brought together significant figures from institutional and legal feminism. Among the participants were María Guijarro, Secretary of State for Equality; Lidia Guinart, deputy and president of the Monitoring Commission of the State Pact against Gender Violence; Gloria Poyatos, magistrate of the Social Chamber of the High Court of Justice of the Canary Islands; and deputies Andrea Fernández and Milena Herrera. The discussion was moderated by María Dolores Corujo.
The day concluded with the presentation of the 'Transforming Women' Awards, honoring women whose work and commitment have significantly contributed to social transformation and the feminist struggle. The 'Raíz' Award was given to Nieves Rosa Hernández Gorrín, president of the Mararía association, for her long-standing dedication and commitment to women's rights in Lanzarote.
The 'Magma' Award went to Vanessa Frahija, general secretary of CCOO in the Canary Islands, for her activism and transformative vision of feminism within the trade union sphere. Finally, the 'Horizonte' Award was presented to magistrate Gloria Poyatos, for her tireless work in judicial feminism and her contribution to expanding gender rights and equality.
